communities.md Catalogue Rules
The catalogue brings Moldova's communities together in one place: who they are, what they do and how to join them. These rules describe which communities we add, what a listing must contain, what is prohibited and what the editorial team does when the rules are broken. The rules supplement the Terms of Use: breaking the rules means breaching the terms.
1. Which communities we add
A community is a group of people with a shared interest, profession or purpose that others can join. We add a community if it:
- operates in Moldova or brings together people connected with Moldova, including the diaspora;
- has a public way to join or get in touch: a chat, group, form, page or community contact details;
- is active: it has held meetings, published materials or hosted discussions in the past 12 months;
- is not already listed in the catalogue. One community has one listing; separate listings for city branches are added at the editorial team's discretion.
We do not add companies, shops and services; one-off events; personal blogs and channels run by a single author; groups created to sell goods and services or recruit people into financial schemes; closed groups with no way to join; or communities whose activities violate the law.
The editorial team decides borderline cases. A decision to add a community does not oblige us to keep its listing in the catalogue indefinitely.
2. What a listing must contain
- Name — as the community calls itself.
- Description — what the community does, who it is for, in what format and how often, without evaluative wording. For example: “monthly meetings, 40–60 participants, talks and networking”.
- Language of communication, city or online format.
- How to join and the community's public contact details — those the community itself provides for getting in touch.
- The community's logo or cover image. Photographs of people are allowed only under the rules in section 6 of the Terms of Use.
- The representative's name and role — if the community itself publicly names them or they have identified themselves in that role.
The editorial team may shorten and rewrite the description in the catalogue's consistent style while preserving its meaning, and translate it into Romanian, Russian and English.
3. What is prohibited
- Materials that violate the law; calls for violence, hatred and discrimination; adult content.
- Impersonating another community or its organiser; knowingly false information about membership numbers, partners and activities.
- Third parties' private data: personal phone numbers and addresses, participant lists and correspondence; photographs of people without their consent.
- Advertising goods and services disguised as a community description; links to fraudulent and financial schemes.
- Spam through the catalogue's forms, artificially increasing the number of applications and multiple accounts belonging to one person.
4. Rules for organisers
- Information in the listing must be accurate. If the community has changed its format or name, or has ceased to operate, update the listing or write to us.
- Do not publish participants' data in the listing or in news.
- Contact details from catalogue pages are used only to join a community, not for mailings or sales.
- The right to manage a listing is confirmed by the person who actually runs the community. Where applications compete, the editorial team decides on the basis of public information: who administers the community's channel or page, and who is named as the organiser on its resources. Until a decision is made, the right to manage the listing is not transferred to any of the applicants.
5. News
We publish news about community activities: meetings, recruitment, launches and results. We do not publish commercial announcements unrelated to a community, political campaigning or repeated content. The editorial team chooses which news appears in the catalogue and the digest and may shorten the text.
6. Errors, complaints and removal of listings
You can report an error or violation through the “Report a problem” link on the listing or at inbox@webteam.email. We respond within 30 days.
If the rules are broken, the editorial team may correct the listing, hide it until it is corrected, delete a listing or news item, or stop accepting materials from the organiser. We may choose not to explain the reasons; a decision can be challenged by emailing inbox@webteam.email and identifying the listing.
We move communities that have ceased to operate to the archive: the listing remains accessible with a label but does not appear in the main list. At the organiser's request, we delete the listing.
7. Changes to the rules
We may change the rules. The new version applies from the date of publication: to new applications immediately, and to listings already published when they are next reviewed.
The rules are published in Romanian, Russian and English; in the event of a discrepancy, the Romanian text prevails.
